Oils And Fats

High cholesterol, joint pain, arthritis, clogged arteries – any of these issues and you MUST be taking fish oils. Fish oils are the source with the highest omega-3 fatty acid content.
If you haven’t experienced any of the above and you consider yourself healthy, you should still take omega-3. I will explain why. See, the diets that we eat provide very unfavorable ratio between omega-3 and omega-6 (both of them are polyunsaturated fats), which based on recent studies might be one of the strong factors, to be held to account for the high incidence of heart disease and chronic inflammation.
It is now known that the ratio omega-3:omega-6 should be around 1:2 to 1:4. Well, most of the oils (even those that are considered healthy like olive oil) have a ratio of around 1:20!!! Now you see how important it is to take additional omega-3 every time you have a chance to do so.
One way is to take fish oil supplements, which contain the omega-3 that are directly used by your body. The other way is to take flax seed oil, which contains fats that are easily converted to the omega-3 that the body most readily uses.
Now, when choosing a fish oil supplement you should try to find one that is very high in EPA and DHA, and it is free of detectable levels of mercury, cadmium, lead or other contaminants. My favorite is Omega-3 700 by Solgar.

If you are looking for something almost as good, but a lot cheaper, you should try the Nature's Way FISOL. Its fish oil is 50% concentration and it's enteric coated, meaning no fishy after taste:
