ICE by Extreme Formulations Review

I first bought ICE two years a go, when I was in preparation for the Superbody’04. Back then it used to taste good. It was actually a treat to have my during-workout drink with ICE. Now, two years later it’s a real torture.

For those of you who don’t know about ICE - it’s a BCAA’s and Glutamine mix plus Vit. B6. You can benefit from such a cocktail when on a lower calorie diet and higher cardio and weight workout volume. It has anticatabolic properties.

My experience: This time when I purchased it I expected the same (or better) product. After all it’s been two years, right? So, I’d expect them to either improve it or at least not make it worse.

So, here is my issue with it. At just five grams, diluted with water, it tastes horrible. It’s bitterly sweet. Moreover, it leaves that strong, disagreeable aftertaste that wouldn’t go away even after my post-workout shake (whey protein). It would stay there even after a light meal.

While I was drinking it during my workouts my stomach would feel as if I was pouring some kind of heavy, but liquid metal. It would feel heavy on my digestive system for hours after that.

The aftertaste might be due to the flavoring they use (I got the grape flavor this time. Two years a go I had the fruit punch). But even if it wasn’t the aftertaste the sweetness is way too strong. I wonder now is most of it BCAA’s and Glutamine or it’s mainly sucralose (the main ingredient in Splenda) and acesulfam-k plus the flavoring.

Whatever it is, I feel like I threw my money down the drain (it costs almost 50 bucks). My advice: don’t by it. You will get almost the same amounts of the main ingredients (I’m not talking about the sweeteners although they appear to be a main ingredient) from a scoop of whey protein:
