AI Isn’t Coming For Your Job

You think the AI conversation is about employment… or unemployment),and income… or loss of income. It’s not.

Here’s what’s actually happening. Within 5 to 10 years, work will become optional for most people. Universal income or something similar handles survival. Longevity research extends human lifespan to 120 years, possibly more.

That means you’re looking at 80 years – from age 40 to 120 – without the thing that’s been giving you identity since you were 25.

Your job title. Your career achievements. Your provider role. Gone.

And most people have absolutely no idea what meaning in life looks like without those things.

Here’s the truth: Work was never the meaning. It was the distraction from the meaning.

And here’s the rest of the truth: You were never here to achieve. You were never here to leave a legacy. You were here to evolve. To move from conventional thinking (“I am my achievements”) to post-conventional seeing (“I am awareness watching achievements appear and disappear”).

Work was the distraction. AI is removing that distraction.

Most people hit the Achiever stage around age 30-40 and stay there for life. Success equals identity. “I matter because I have this title.” That works fine in a world where jobs give you purpose.

But there are post-conventional stages of development beyond the Achiever stage (I’m referring to EDT). Stages where you see through the ego’s stories. And AI is about to force that evolution whether you’re ready or not.

So what does meaning in life look like when what I’m talking about here happens?

Here’s where meaning will be found…

Once you accept that evolution is the purpose – really accept it, not just intellectually – there are only three domains of meaning left: personal philosophy (sitting with the big questions you’ve been avoiding), relationships (deep, transformative, no masks), and art (your unique self-expression in everything you do).

So… You have 10 years to prepare for 80 years without a work-based identity.

The video above breaks down the mechanics of this. Watch it.
