A Peek Into My Mind

A Peek Into My Mind

(There are 3 ways to approach this: 1-overlook it/not read it at all, 2-gloss over it as your mind checks out on every other sentence, and 3-let it penetrate you, take pauses, feel the tension in your mind every time it arises, and come on the other side. If you do 3, you may get a peek into my nature.)

PART 1

Today, I was telling a friend that I can sit on a couch in the morning and stare at a blank wall in front of me the entire day – and it won’t be enough for me.

This is hard for the vast majority of people to understand.

But see, how can you not marvel at how God is speaking to you (itself)?

How can you not marvel at a paradox, for example?

How can you not marvel for a lifetime over something as simple and as profound as this…

There are infinite numbers between the numbers 0 and 1. An infinity of numbers!

But then God wants to take you further.

There are infinite numbers between 0 and 0.00000001

Oh, wait, you can add a gazillion zeros after the decimal point, and there will still be infinite numbers between 0 and that incredibly small number.

You see..

Every time you add a zero after the decimal point, you make the number even smaller – it gets even closer to zero.

And yet, still, there are infinite numbers inside.

In other words, no matter how close you get to zero, you will always have infinite numbers between 0 and that number.

And this is just the beginning.

PART 2

God wants to show you more…

Inside, between 0 and the smallest number your mind can imagine, there are multiple infinities…

An infinity of rational numbers.

An infinity of irrational numbers.

And an infinity of real numbers.

And just as you were trying to hang onto any mind that hasn’t melted yet…

God says…

But, you know, the infinity of real numbers is “bigger” than the infinity of rational and the infinity of irrational numbers – because it contains both.

Now, the mind has completely melted…

An infinity inside of an infinity. “We can’t go there”, says the mind.

Yet, this is one of the best ways to appreciate the significance of infinitely small and infinitely big – and that they are both the same.

Just like “everything” and “nothing” are the same.

PART 3

This is what can make me sit and stare at a blank wall for a whole day.

And this is why it’s becoming increasingly difficult for me to want to have conversations with others.

Because if I have to talk about what people want to talk about, I’m bored in my bones.

I want to go to the limits – and beyond. Fast.

If you can (and love to) go there, I’m game.

If not, I prefer a couch and a wall.

That’s me. Today. Great to meet you!

Who are you?

PART 4

And then God says…

Did you know that a straight line is an imaginary thing? It doesn’t exist. And you always thought it did – as if it’s the most normal thing ever.

You do that with a circle, too. I can go on.

Oh, and by the way, every time you call a thing something, it’s completely arbitrary.

This smartphone you are holding right now…

If we took a molecule out of it would it still be “a smartphone”?

What if we took two molecules out?

Perhaps?

Imagine going like that for a while…

What if we took all molecules out, and only two molecules were left?

Would you still call what’s left “a smartphone”?

No?

So, when did it “stop” being a smartphone? At which molecule?

So now tell me…

What constitutes “you”?

And when do you “stop” being “you”?
